Big Slapple Program Change – no gig on 13 March

The Big Slapple show planned for Tuesday 13 March will no longer go ahead because of program changes made by the Adelaide Convention Centre.

Thanks to everyone who came to see our three shows over the last fortnight. We enjoyed playing in a great venue.

And thanks to the Weekend Warriors who organised the event and to the members of the Club who helped bands set up each night. Their work was very professional and much appreciated.

Next Gig – Tuesday 6 March at the Blue Note Club

Johnny and the Walkers

Club Cool Halloween Show

A great show today for around 200 people at this month’s Club Cool in the big Venue at the Gov. With Fabian in Sydney, our good friend Rob Green sat in on drums.

Everyone was fired up from the very first number and Johnny and the Walkers enjoyed one of its best gigs yet.

This was today’s set:

Burning Love
You Can’t Do That
Every Time That You Walk in the Room
Summertime Blues
Runaround Sue
Come Together
Kiss Me Quick
Love Potion no. 9
Little Sister
Hang on Sloopy
Steamroller Blues

Crossfire, a new Warrior Club band rounded out the show with its debut set of country rock .

Club Cool is a regular concert and dance for people with disabilities, their family, friends and carers. Organised by DIRC, it occurs on the third Sunday of every month. The Weekend Warriors Club is proud to support Club Cool and provide bands and artists for the event.

Double Set at Club Cool

The theme of today’s show was “Hollywood Star” and the audience had done a great job of dressing for the part. The Venue at The Gov was jumping and Johnny and the Walkers were pumping.

Lead singer Johnny Walker looked great in his new jacket, an exact replica of the one Elvis wore in in his 1968 movie “Speedway”.

Usually a two band gig, this afternoon Johnny and the Walkers played through the whole show, laying down a high energy double-setter, much to the delight of the crowd:

Set 1
Burning Love

First Gig

Johnny and the Walkers stepped out in the front bar of the Gov this afternoon to play its first ever gig with the new line-up of Johnny up-front on vocals; Darryl on lead and back-up vox; the Rev. Ian on rhythm guitar and keys; Nenad on bass and Fabian on drums.

The short, tight set of classic Rock and Roll favourites entertained the small but enthusiastic crowd and kicked off a great afternoon of music.
